The Mekong Institute is a unique regional training
centre offering tailor-made courses for key public and business sector
personnel in the many different aspects of economic and administrative
reform. Most courses are conducted in a modern, purpose-built training
facility on the campus of Khon Kaen University in Northeast Thailand.
Course participants live and study together in a hotel-style facility
in which all rooms have personal computers with access to the interned
24 hours a day.
The Mekong Institute aims to assist the six countries of the Greater
Mekong Subregion (GMS) to move towards more open economies and greater
regional integration. In this transition, the demand for human resource
development is increasing particularly in the areas of economic management,
governance and public administration.
The Institute can deliver short and long training courses which meet
the practical needs of managers and officials from GMS countries, and
of the organisations they work for. Emphasis is also placed on acquiring
the skills necessary to implement changecommunication and English
skills, basic IT skills, leadership, management and negotiating skills.
